My wife and I have been living in our condo for the past 3 and 1/2 years, and in those 3 and 1/2 years our Homeowners Association fee has just about doubled. When we moved in, we were paying $180 per month, which was reasonable. Our homeowners association takes care of gardening, water, trash and other exterior maintenance. I was just fine with paying $180 per month, but now we’re paying $300 per month, and that amount is likely to increase during the summer sometime. Why? We don’t get any better service, and I doubt that trash and water has increased by 100% since we moved in. What do homeowners associations do with all of the money that they collect from residents?
